Ooh, wow. I remember Testing the Ice especially of Sharon Robinson's works -- and feeling what a powerful story that was -- who knew it was written by a woman once a midwife? You know what I want (if we all get to put in our orders from this author)? A YA novels about the magic and the mystery of birth -- a novel featuring young folk of color and birth and babies for once from a positive point of view.

I believe that Sharon Robinson is magical. A midwife who brought children and now books into the world? Bring on more!

Luv Nikki Carter's writing! I enjoyed reading her debut YA So For Real series, and I can't wait to see what's been happening with those characters in her upcoming series. Carter's writing is a breath of fresh air, chalk full of drama and lots of humor, with a little lesson on the side that doesn't beat you over the head.

I'm so glad Tiffany's agent led her towards YA. It's def a good look for her. ;-)

I had no idea that Nikki Carter was a pseudonym. Now I have to look up Tiffany L. Warren and do a little comparison! She is indeed a prolific writer with whom I became acquainted through my niece who loved the big-drama novels in high school - there will always be reader for that!

Going from having a kid get into law school and throw it over for writing must be tough, but I know that Ms. Dant's family is proud of her, regardless of what she does, and her book sounds charming.

As disappointing as it is to hear when a promising book series is cut due to lack of funds, the genius is in the author, and I know that we'll hear more from Pansie Hart Flood - if not with Carolrhoda Books, with someone else.

When I was in Junior High we were required to read 'Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry'. I am not going to lie, I didn't want to read it. I had an old battered copy of that book, and didn't even crack open the book. My teacher came to me and told me that if I didn't read that book then he was going to hold me back until I read it. I am glad to say I read that book and finished it in the same day, ever since then I have been hooked on Mildred D. Taylor.
