Cozbi A. Cabrera walked away from a successful career as an art director at Sony Music to “discover, create and share pockets of grace and beauty.” Her creations have taken on many forms. She is the illustrator of several books for children, including Most Loved in All the World (Houghton Mifflin), Thanks A Million (Greenwillow Books), Stitchin’ and Pullin’ (Random House).
In addition Cozbi makes handmade Muñecas — “dolls” in Spanish — and womens’s clothing that sell in her Brooklyn boutique. She’s been featured on Oprah and in Black Enterprise Magazine.
Most recently, she contributed a striking illustration to the book Our Children Can Soar: A Celebration of Rosa, Barack, and the Pioneers of Change (pictured below).
Always good to find new illustrators — and that dolls hair just kills me. Love it.
doll’s hair, anyway.
Cozbi’s beautiful spirit illuminates everything she does…and visiting her store is like stepping into wonderland!
Cozbi is one of the most beautiful and graceful people you’ll ever meet. She is also one of the most talented. Her shop is like a dreamworld. If you have the chance to go and visit, I highly recommend it. She made a dress for me and I am itching to own more.
When, I was at the library I added Most Loved in All the World. I’ve been eyeing that picture book for a minute, so its about time I read it.
