Born in Trinidad, raised and based in Ontario, Canada, Kern’s writing encompasses creativity, self-expression, emotional awareness, fatherhood, relationships, and masculinity.
He writes novels, ghostwrites books, and curates stories through the multiple platforms he’s created for emerging writers.
Kern is the author of three young adult novels– Boys and Girls Screaming (DCB/Cormorant, 2021), Is there a Boy Like Me (Tundra/Penguin Random House, 2024), and recently, Is There a Boy Like Me? (Scholastic, 2024). He is also the author of two self-published titles Beauty Scars (2017) and Thoughts of a Fractured Soul (2014).
Kern is the editor in chief and creator of three platforms– Writers are Superstars, CRY Magazine, and Love & Literature.
He is the co-creator, story editor, and producer of the Wallflower series.
